painting over wall covered with rock glue

I had polystyrene insulation on walls (put on using wall rock) I've taken it off I have put on 3 coats of emulsion paint on the walls but its not covering properly> Do you know why? Thanks Kerry

Hi Kerry, the emulsion will not cover the substance that was on the wall. 2 options really: 1) rub down walls (a lot) apply lining paper nd then paint 2) Rub down walls (a lot) apply some zinseer primer to said walls. Then apply 2 coats of emulsion to walls. The second option will be the dearest but the most effective

Why did you take off the insulation lining??? best bet is to rub all the walls down & coat with Zinsser B.I.N. it's a Shellac based sealer & will stick to anything. Around £80 for 5 lts then just treat as normal wall.
