Can first fix plumbing be done before stud walls are put in?

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.50 PM

I am looking at creating 3 bathrooms in a property and wanted to know if there are any issues with undertaking first fix pipework before having the stud partitions in place where they are likely to go? If know where ensuites, toilet and sink are going is there issue with doing this beforehand?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hello, normal practice is for the 1st fix carpentry to be done before plumbing . Ideally I would recommend getting the carpenters in first, it's easier for all trades this way. For example if your splitting a room in two with a basin on the stud wall all the pipe work before the stud would make it a very tricky task to stud. In reverse the plumber can simply drill holes and feed his pipe through neatly. I hope this helps
