Re-securing loose tiles around edge of bath
Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.50 PM
A number of tiles around the edge of the bath have become loose. behind the tiles the plaster is wet due to ingress of water from shower above bath. I have removed the tiles on several occasions and tried to re-affix them without any lasting success. The last time I left the tiles off for the wall to dry for a few days, pva'd the wall and then put quick drying grout and tile adhesive on, but have had no lasting success. Would something like grip fill be any better to use? Thanks

No grip fill is not waterproof, you will need to cut out all the damp plaster and replaster then use a good primer like sbr not pva then fix the tiles with a cement based powder adhesive.

Another way is to take off damp tiles and clean off old adhesive from the tiles and plaster. Then get a hair dryer and dry out tile and plaster 100%.
When every thing is completely dry using silicon to stick back the tiles.
Silicon goes off in couple of hours and then regrout joints with bal grout white. Then carefully dry joints with the hair dryer and using your silicone gun reseal tile to bath only when joint is dry 100%.
