Knocking through from kitchen to dining room (non-load bearing wall)
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.52 PM
I want to knock through the upper section of wall from kitchen to dining room leaving bottom part which has radiator on in dining room and putting units against on kitchen side. I want to leave about a foot at top and one of sides to create a lintel effect. Prob bit like a giant serving hatch. Is this possible as is a non load bearing wall or will I just have to knock out from ceiling.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi
It's hard to know without any plan or seeing the actual job, but in all the cases you'll need a sort of lintel (not a lintel effect), but what sort of lintel, this will need a professional person to have a look. hope this helps

If it is a non load bearing wall, and you must get that checked, then go ahead, if it is load bearing, you need a structural engineer to advise on the size of lintel you need to install
