Light stays on with new bathroom switch (extractor fan works fine)

Hi, My bathroom light switch broke, I have attempted to refit a new one but I must have made a slight mistake. The switch operates both the lights and the extractor fan, and the fan correctly turns on and off, however the bathroom lights stay on permanently. So doing some online research, I appear not to have completely bypassed the switch as it still turns off the fan. I have 2 red wires into the COM, a cream and a brown into L2 and behind the switch there are 3 black wires that go into a junction box (2 one side, 1 the other), the earths are into the earth connector. What could I have done wrong here? thanks in advance...!

3 core and earth is brown grey and black which prob mistaking for cream colour Sounds like you got the perminant live onto the switched live for light easy fix no £5000 from building control as it is like. For like and not required to be notified

Possibly mixed up the switch return to the light with the permanent live to the fan. Presuming the fan has a timer over run/is this operation working or does it switch off when switch is switched off? Ideally you need to have a competent person check this out for you. If in doubt a registered electrician.

There is no Cream and brown it should be yellow and green! This is the earth wire so must not be connected to L1 or L2. To avoid getting a potential £5000 find from building control, for mucking around with DIY electrics without consent, hire a part P registered electrician and get the job done right.
