No completion certificate for conservatory building works , company ceased trading

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.10 PM

I had a conservatory built in 2011, the company I used was a member of BM TRADA, and had very good reviews. They also removed an external wall to extend my kitchen in to the conservatory. They did all the plans for me. Before work commenced a building inspector came to review the property, and again when the structural work had been completed. Before the project was finished the company went bankrupt and thy never came back to finish the floor. We are in the process of selling the property and are being told we need a completion certificate. I know one was completed by the company, but when we went to collect it, the company had moved out of there premises. Will we be able to sell the house with out it, or will we be able to get a copy?.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Yes, you are within your right to ask for another copy, however, if the said company never had insurance backed guarantees to run alongside jobs u may have to contact council and reapply for completion or pass certificate. If you explain ur case im sure that they would help
