ceiling plaster / artex has blown - any easy way to remove this so I can paper the ceiling?

the ceiling in my bathroom has blown in 1 corner about a foot/sq ,on inspection I think its plaster and not artex. ive removed all the loose plaster with a scraper but in some places its about 5mm thick and still bonded,is there any easy way to remove so I can paper the ceiling. thanks oddjob

Personly I would waste ur time and you will probably scrape big chunks out get a spread in and get them to scrape the big snots off and dubble skim the ceilings
