Gas pipe in dropped ceiling
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.10 PM
In a corridor about 90cm wide by 8m long I am fitting a dropped ceiling to accommodate lighting and cables. The void, 18cm deep, will also enclose an existing gas pipe. I know about spacing cables away from gas (I am an electrician) but would like advice on the amount of ventilation needed for the gas pipe. Maybe a gas plumber can tell me the formula and where to find it. Would it be a good idea to box the pipe in so it is effectively in its own duct within the ceiling?

A simple air vent will suffice, so if the gas pipe is ever ruptured or accidently damaged the accumulation of gas will be kept to a minimum and will also alert you to escape of gas.
