Upstand shower trays and hinged/pivot enclosure door

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.52 PM

I'm replacing a shower tray/enclosure in our onsuite bathroom; its in a corner. The original tray was a 4 upstand 760x760mm tray with a riser kit - the original enclosure was a cheap and nasty sliding door job (and the rollers were knackered). We are basically looking to replace like for like to minimise the work, except we want a hinged/pivot door instead of a sliding door on the enclosure because we think there is less to go wrong with that type. I've been looking at Coram for the tray and enclosure. For the upstand tray with riser kit, I've been looking at Coram Waterguard trays. For the enclosure I've been looking at Coram Optima with a Pivot door. My question is, will a 4 upstand tray be compatible with a pivor door enclosure, or would the door foul on the upstand? The trays seem to come as either a 4 upstand and 2 panel pack, or 3 upstand and 1 panel pack. I obviously need 2 panels, so I'd need to go with a 4 upstand tray presumably. From the pictures of the Optima enclosure door, it looks like the frame around the glass door might lift the door sufficiently to clear the upstand. I guess a lot of the sites are intended for trade rather than diy'ers, so I am struggling to clarify this by google'ing. Is anyone able to claify the above for me? Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hello Dave, If I was carrying out this work, I would use a standard tray with no upstand. Shower trays come with adjustable legs so you can raise the tray to compansate for the upstand. A pivot door enclosure on a tra with an upstand wouldn`t look very good. I hope this helps. Marc

Hi Dave Most properly you need 4 stands as to keep the height for the water dispersion also it is easier if you have the panels so you can access the waste incase of leaks and blockage Gary
