Repositioning toilet waste outlet
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.06 PM
I had an old low level toilet in downstairs cloakroom with drainage into floor with a 24 cm centre away from wall (hole 19 to 29 cm away). I requested a plumber move the hole to wall (circa 6cm centre from wall) so could fit a new close coupled toilet with horizontal outlet. I am rather concerned about the quality of the job done. He has dug about 20cm into original waste hole, fitted 2 connected 135 degree soil pipe connectors to bring pipe closer to the wall, cemented around the pipe and then added a significantly trimmed down P Connector going vertically to where toilet will join it. The top 135 degree soil pipe is partly exposed meaning the toilet cannot be pushed fully to the wall, leaving about a 5cm gap between the wall and toilet cistern. What is your view of this work, should I refuse to pay the plumber unless he does a proper job and are the 2 135 degree soil pipes likely to be reliably connected to the original pipe within ground or should I worry about waste seepage? The waste in the ground had it's outlet 24 cm (19 to 29cm) from wall and drains into manhole directly behind the wall the toilet was to be against, ie the pipe would flow from it's original hole towards and under the wall where the new pipe was to be positioned. Any advice and assessment to the quality of work would be greatly appreciated.
