Agreed with building inspector to install a soakaway - builder installed drain one brick higher than dpc
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.06 PM
I am in the middle of an extension and am having problems with builder! It was agreed with the building inspector to install a soak away for the rain water from the roof of both the house and extension to run into Our builder has installed a drain which is one brick higher than the dpc and runs only from one inch under the surface to six inches, meaning our block paving can't be re-instated as most of it less than a brick deep also the sticks up like a sore thumb It this correct procedure or a lazy builder?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi I think you have answered your own question by putting this question on here, the drain is meant to be set to ground level not sticking up above it, unless there is some issue with not being able to get an adequate fall to the soakaway, but it is highly unlikely it sounds like he has set it out wrong. Get him back and tell him to either fit the block paving to your satisfaction or to re-do the drain for you.
Good luck
