Which underlay should I use for laminate flooring over ground level suspended wooden plank floor?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.51 PM
I am laying laminate flooring over a ground level suspended wooden plank floor. I am reading conflicting reports on which underlay to use. The suspended floor is well ventilated and is about 20 inches deep underneath. I am looking for something that has good insulating properties as currenlty there is a big draft. Please help!

some types of underlay have special thermal insulating properties. They may consist of foil or polystyrene materials that reflect the heat and prevent it from escaping through the floor.
Choose an underlay with a high R value rating. An underlay with a high R value level indicates its superior heat conduction property.
Your local diy shop Should sell silver foil underlay like the one in the link
Hope this helps
