laying patio stones - do I need to remove crazy paving?

I have a back patio with crazy paving. i want to put pebbles on this area do i need to remove the crazy paving and put down a hardcore type 1 base , any advice would be appreciated.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You do need to remove the crazy paving if you intend to regularly walk over this area as the pebbles have a habit of sliding around across the surface of the paving. If it's just an ornamental area then you can spread them over and leave it at that.

Not necessarily, however if you lay pebbles on top you would need to be conscious of the damp course. You need to be 150mm down from the damp course, and you would need to put a weed suppressant under the pebbles
