Lime light plaster

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 2.36 PM

Is is possible to put a skim of LimeLight plaster on existing lime plaster walls? We have heard that the LimeLight will not take key unless Unibond is used. Not keen to use Unibond as do not want jepardise the breathability of walls.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

yes you can use lime based plaster and you get really nice finish then use lime based paint. once carbonise fully. but "never" use multifinish as it crates a barrier so the walls cant breath. lime plaster will outlast muiltfinish 100 times over get a good key then dampen walls down and plaster with lime you can use 3.5 Natural Hydraulic Lime mixed with eather touch of sliversand or fine chalk, a touch of water will help with working time of materials but not much after its been mixed, sorry to say but AJ PLASTERING SERVICES is 100% right.., stephen james plastering has you have given the wrong advice

More often than not your walls are lime plastered for a reason - perhaps single and/or lime mortar used in the building process? If you use multifinish like stephen james plastering suggests then this will form a barrier so your walls will not be abe to breath as probably designed to do - he gave wrong advice!
