How to move waste pipe 1 mtr off the back wall of the house

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.09 PM

Hi, Dartford council has made it a condition of my proposed extension build that I get a suitable solution approved with Southern water. southern water say they would like to do a man in the middle and hire the contractor to move the wast pipe. Charging a big part of my budget My question is, can I work directly with a tradesman on this? Note that I wanted to have an extension that spans the 6mtr back of my house. And goes into the garden 3.5 mtrs The wast pipe is 1 mtr off the back of the house and serves other houses. A man hole cover in the middle I.e. 3 mtr in from the side of my house. I have not hired anyone as yet for the extension build I wanted to understand the situation with the waste pipe Thanks Michael

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

As I understand you now have to apply for a build over licence from water suppliers in your area. That said the builder that takes on your extension should be able to move the sewer pipe including siting any new manholes where the direction changes providing that there is enough fall and depth on your sewer

Hi Without seeing what your up against, I would suggest providing a new soil pipe outlet direct from the manhole you have mentioned, if this is not achievable then you may well require a permit to do a direct saddle connection onto the existing main run, from previous experience this is possible at a small cost too you say labor plant and materials. shouldn't really more than two day max to complete from start to finish. Hope this helps Nigel
