How to move waste pipe 1 mtr off the back wall of the house

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.06 PM

Hi, Dartford council has made it a condition of my proposed extension build that I get a suitable solution approved with Southern water. southern water say they would like to do a man in the middle and hire the contractor to move the wast pipe. Charging a big part of my budget My question is, can I work directly with a tradesman on this? Note that I wanted to have an extension that spans the 6mtr back of my house. And goes into the garden 3.5 mtrs The wast pipe is 1 mtr off the back of the house and serves other houses. A man hole cover in the middle I.e. 3 mtr in from the side of my house. I have not hired anyone as yet for the extension build I wanted to understand the situation with the waste pipe first. Thanks Michael

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Michael, is there some reason it has to be moved? what cant it be bridged over in your footings? also adding a manhole outside your extension and putting a fixed lid manhole in your floor so that it can be accessed if required as a last resort? seems like a lot of extra work for something that normally wouldn't be a huge issue. Speak to building control and ask their opinion there are there to advise you and help. Building regs; approved document part H covers drains and may help you if you want to look it over. Ask southern water why it cant be bridged, we never even spoke to seven trent on our last job building control was happy with our engineers design to bridge it and we just went ahead. I would do more research before spending money. Goodluck Stronghold
