How to keep a south-facing conservatory cool... metalux?

Had our conservatory for 10 years now, shame we didn't do our homework on the pros and cons before building it, however in the summer it is totally unbearable - heat/glare. Contacted our local window company who suggested maybe having reflective sheets fitted to (polycarbonate) roof .. metalux? Just wondering if this material would actually help cool down the conservatory that much, as in would it be a usable room? Don't want to waste money on something if it's not going to work. Advice appreciated - thx.
