Small piles of fine powdery dust by inner wall skirting board (on one side only) - possible woodworm?

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.50 PM

Hello. I have just moved into a flat over 2 floors. The previous owner fitted the whole flat with brand new laminate flooring, possibly laid over existing timber floors. I have noticed small piles of fine powdery dust by the inner wall skirting board, both floors, but on one side only. I have not noticed any holes or other evidence of infestation. Could this dust be caused by a non-organic issue?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Most likely it is just dust from when the walls were sanded. Or it could be caused by damp within the wall causing small parts to flake off, touch the wall with a clean hand above the piles and see if it is loose or marks your hand.
