Where do I start and who do I contact for quotes on an ensuite conversion.

Anonymous user 22/02/2024 - 2.34 PM

The upstairs of my flat has already been converted into a bedroom with a separate dressing room and a decent sized walk in attic space. Ideally I would like to convert the attic space into an en-suite bathroom but unsure as to where and who I would contact for design ideas and quotes or if it is even possible. This room is at the back of the house straight above the bathroom downstairs but it is how you would imagine an attic space and would need turned into a usable room. It is floored and has electricity running to it and has two levels as it steps down at the far end, the ceiling itself is at a decent height but there are beams which go across which are roughly just above 6ft high from the highest part of the floor. If it wasn't possible to turn this room into an en-suite I would look at converting the dressing room which is just next to the attic but at the front of the house.I don't know where to start whether it is a plumber, joiner, bathroom designer...

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi if you advertise the job to a conversion specialist they should have the knowledge to design and install your perfect en-suite. If you get a lot of head scratching when being quoted then it might be worth getting in another contractor to quote. If I can help please contact. Regards Steve.

My advice would be to ask if any friends or family know an Architect,or contact one thats local to you once the plans are drawn up look for your Builder from that point,he may even suggest one or two, always go for 3 quotes minimum and then get references for previous work done for clients
