New housing for gas meter or having it moved??

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.06 PM

Grateful for any advice you can give… Our gas meter is in our porch in a shabby wooden cupboard. We’re getting rid of the porch, which will expose the cupboard to the elements. There’s a pipe going from the meter into the house and another leading from the meter and out alongside our house and back into the living room (connecting to the gas fire). What is the best thing to do? Get it moved inside? Get something constructed (I guess wood isn’t adequate)? It’s a Schroder BK-G4 and it’s freestanding (well, it’s on the ground and not stuck on the wall or anything). Many thanks for any help.

I would suggest you contact the 'Gas Transporter' they will survey the existing meter location and either modify it so it can be enclosed within a meter box or they may even re-locate it indoors.

The first thing to do is to contact your Gas supplier let them know what you are doing then they will give you the right advise what needed to be done.
