Outside PIR floodlights - 6 amp fused spur off the power supply?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.06 PM

I'm about too install two outside PIR floodlights. I'm wondering if it's best to take a 6 amp fused spur off the power supply to feed the two lights or would I use a 13 amp f/s

It can be done either way, but the cable used outdoors must be UV stable and suitable for use outdoors, plus the circuit must be RCD protected in order to comply with BS7671:2008. Failure to comply with the wiring regulations can result in a fine of up to £5000.

Hi, If you are installing 2 x 400 watt halogen lights then a 5 amp fuse inside the fuse spur is ok.

Hi It's up to your lights wattage (load demand) to determine the fuse rating and cable diameter, ( there's no 6A fuse spur 3, 5, 13A) . hope this helps
