Painting newly skimmed walls

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.50 PM

Been searching how to go about painting newly skimmed walls (skimmed 4 weeks ago) and get different answers from everywhere I have looked. Different advice on the percentage of watering down the paint and what paint to use. More inclined to buy paint specifically made for this however having trouble finding some. Any recommendations?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Emusioning newly skimmed walls isn't a problem, you can use white or magnolia , water it down usually about 50/50, this will kill the suction of the new plaster, give it a light rub over with light sandpaper just to take off any rough particles, your walls are now ready for two coats of normal emulsion. Hope this helps

Hi, You can thin down emulsion paint with water to apply first. Better still, you can buy new plaster paint from paint merchants
