Combustible materials around high level grill gas cooker?

Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.33 PM

I have removed an old high-level grill gas cooker which was supplied and fitted by a gas showroom maybe 20 years ago. It has a bayonet fitting and a hook on the wall to attach the chain to. I recently ordered a new high-level grill gas cooker from a well known appliance seller online and when they came to install it, they refused saying that the wooden window sill and wooden window frame behind it were combustible material therefore they couldn't fit it. I have looked on the Gas Safe regulations online and it doesn't appear to mention anything about what is behind a cooker, only clearances to either side and above the grill. The manufacturers manual for the cooker (Beko) again states side clearance and clearance above the grill and states that it is a class 1 device whereby one side and the back can touch a wall, kitchen furniture or partition. But then states kitchen furniture should not be combustible below 100 C. The side clearances and top clearances are within the gas safe regulations, but the distance from one side of the cooker to my kitchen unit will be less than the distance from the back of the cooker to the window frame so how can that be right? surely kitchen unit mdf or whatever it is will be combustible below 100 c? and if it isn't then surely the wooden window frame isn't either? BTW there are no curtains or blind on the window and I never open it.
