Do ceramic tiles have a tendency to lift more than porcelain tiles?
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.09 PM
We are choosing tiles for our new house which is currently being built. The salesman at the tile shop today advised us not to use ceramic tiles over porcelain as they have a tendency to lift more due to temperature changes. Is there any truth in this? The tile that we like is ceramic with PEI 3.

It makes no difference whether the tile is porcelain or ceramic. If the tiles are fitted properly onto the correct surface with the correct adhesive then they will not lift.

Tiling with porcelain or ceramic tiles makes no difference at all as long as the fixing method is put into practice correctly including background preparation before fixing, of course fixing the tiles properly and using the appropriate adhesive and grout to achieve a lifelong tiling installation.
If all of the above is put into practice the tiles whether porcelain or ceramic will never lift.
