New Build

Kitchen is plaster boarded and and plastered, what now?!

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.37 PM

Hello everyone. This is our first time on a new build and I'm getting a little lost! I need your help?! The kitchen (by the end of this week) will be fully plaster boarded and skimmed. What's next? Can we fit the kitchen now or is it drains first?! Or is drains done after the kitchen by the plumber? HELP! Many thanks, Cassie Watts

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Cassie I'm assuming you have your first fix electrical in?( you should have if its plastered) The next stage would be first fix plumbing ie pipes for your sink, dishwasher, washing machine etc. The plumber at this stage might core a hole through the wall for your waste pipes, that's assuming your drains are on the outside? This really needs to be done before you fit the kitchen, because your joiner will slot your kitchen units over the hot and cold pipes.( it just makes things easier and tidier) Don't panic, have faith in your tradesman, they'll help! Hi You need to 1st fix your pipes. that means running all the pipe work for hot, cold feed, rads and wastes. once the kitchen units are in then your plumber can come and 2nd fix which means connecting your appliances up. Regards Dean

Hello Cassie, how have you got this far? with such limited knowledge, please get help in the way of a project manager/main builder it will pay for its self once you tot up your mistakes!! if you cant afford one,out of the trades you have had on site ask the trades person who would seem to have the most experience for some help in guidance. I have done a 5 bed 3 bathroom house build myself and that is my advise to you. Wish you all the best, keep a cool head and watch every penny along the way. regards chris
