Damaged treads on stairway - repair or replace treads?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.05 PM

Problem with several treads on the stairway of our 1930's house. Appears to have been some movement over the years, and the treads have come away from the rest of the stair, can't gain access to stairs from underneath. What's the best way of approaching this? Do we look to repair or replace treads?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would say that it is quite possible and cheaper to repair the problem treads, a good carpenter should be able to carry out a decent repair.

Repair the treads with some long screws into the risers and L-brackets.
