Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.09 PM
Hi I have been plastering for about 3 years at college. I completed my level 1 plastering diploma then went on to do my level 2 however left as i got a level 3 apprenticeship but sadly got made redundant so i had to start my level 2 again. I have now finished my level 2 plastering diploma and was wondering if any one could help me out so i can do a level 3 apprenticeship or even a plastering job. I have a driving licence and my own transport i also have some tools please help me out Thank you

Hi it’s a shame you got made redundant I am sorry to hear that, you seem a forward thinking guy my advice would be put your level 3 on the back burner but keep it in mind going forward. For now link up with a plastering firm or an experienced plasterer looking for an improver. You will learn more, master your trade and with hard work plus dedication become a fully fledged plasterer ready to start out on your own.
All the best to you mate I hope it works out 👍🏻

Hi sorry to here that you got made redundant I understand that you would like to add your level 3 to your belt, that's great but please do not make this your priority great plastering skills come with years of hands on experience having an Nvq doesn't make you a skilled plasterer knowledge understanding and dedication and time will make you a skilled tradesmen so I would personally concentrate on finding a skilled plasterer to take you on as a plasterers mate where you can earn a wage and gain there experience.

Your first answer from LOOK NO FURTHER is spot on in my opinion. Gaining hands on experience through a reputable plasterer is more valuable than NVQ’s these days. Go and find a decent spread to take you under their wing and earn a wage at the same time...win win!
All the best...
