Kitchen Fitting

Can I tile the walls myself and replace the cabinets at a later date?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.51 PM

Hi, I really hate the tiles in our kitchen but we can't afford a new kitchen for a few more years. Can we tile the walls ourselves and then when we can afford it, replace the cabinets and worktops? Or would the tiles get damaged when the new kitchen is being fitted? Thanks for your help :-)

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

No. Tile the walls after replacing the worktop.

yes you can do this but here is the rub not all kitchen cabinets are equal if they are old the new ones may not fit the tiles the same and leave gaps or the worktop may be 30mm but new ones are mostly 40mm thick so you would need to take care to replace like for like. I have replaced many worktops when tiles are in place not easy but can and is done regularly eg when burnt or damaged. hope this helps
