As we would get this fixed, how much would it be and how much would you suggest we get the house price dropped by?

Hi, it is fairly easy to install gallows brackets to support a chimney breast and should cost you no more than £225. If the work involves more, in the way of concealing the brackets in to say a ceiling and plastering is involved, this may be up to £500.
Hope this helps

I would allow £1,500 - £2,000 for the job and ask for £3,000 off the price
