Plastering & Rendering

Best way of stripping render in conservatory wall - and do building control need to be notified?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.51 PM

There is a lean-to type conservatory in our terranced old brick house. The wall of the conservatory is (badly) rendered, I think it may be lime render but I am not 100% sure. I did a search online and some people mention that building control may need to be notified? Is that the case please? Also, what is the best way of stripping the render please? Thanks very much for your advice in advance. Let me know if you need further information please

hi, no they do not, only if you are altering layout or structural properties. Use an SDS drill (with hammer drill function) with chisel attachment, it will eat through it in no time :)

Hi, you do not need planning permission as you are not doing anything structural. I agree with ProFast Plastering but, when you use the SDS gun, it may damage the brickwork. Any decent plasterer/Renderer will be able to make good. There is a K-Rend system at the moment, when finished it is like real brick so you may get a good match for your house, cheers
