conservatory upvc door handle spinning around will not lock the door

I tried locking my conservatory upvc door. Its a sliding door and you have to turn the handle up then turn the key. Its quite hard to get it shut and i thought i had the door shut in the correct position and jammed the handle up. I heard a snap like sound and now the handle is just spinning around when turning. The bottom of the door is locked but the top part isn't and the door falls back easily. Any ideas what the problem is? Thank you

You've broken the locking mechanism. It's a simple repair for someone who's capable.
Should cost around a £100

Yes you have broken the mechanism and will need looking at by a professional asap as it's not safe to keep your door unlocked
