Gas fire : Do new regulations affect old but never used Gas fires?

Bought a gas fire 6 years ago but not had it installed. Do I need to have a modern new fire in today's regulation standards? Would the old fire be ok still in box? What standards have changed? The fire should still be ok to install, but please let us know the make & model plus serial number, just in case it was subject to any safety alerts issued by the manufacturers!
Update:
I have found no safety alerts issued by the manufacturers relating to to your specific model so your good to employ a Gas Safe engineer to carry out the installation.
