Soffit replacement before/after loft conversion?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.05 PM

I've got a loft conversion coming up, and am also considering getting my soffits and fascias updated around the same time. The company who are looking to do the soffit and fascia work (removal of old soffits and fascias and replacement with new uPVC ones) are adamant that they should do this work first since there is a risk that the loft work could cause the gable ends to shift or sag. The loft company disagrees. Couple of questions: - Does it make a difference which order the work is done in? - Is it always better to replace soffits and fascias? The existing ones are white asbestos and they're already capped, but the paint is peeling from them.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would suggest that the asbestos fascias and soffits would be ACM'S and would therefore need a contractor with the training to do this, also the disposal is specialist work also. As for who does what first I would suggest the external work last
