plywood for vinyl

Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.33 PM

I want to lay vinyl down and the person who is carrying out the work has cut away all my floorboards leaving only an centimeter or so from skirting board sticking out and some cut right away right up to the skirting board, then he has put the plywood down. They are all the same level but my concern is, should he have cut away my existing floor boards or should he have put the ply on top my my existing floorboards.....I am very worried that this is incorrect what he has done and will cost thousands to fix if it can be fixed at all!!!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi 4mm or 6 mm plywood for floors should be used over your floor boards, I can't understand why he has cut away your floor boards ? He might be installing thicker ply which is not flooring ply. What type of flooring are you having? He can secure your old boards, he should keep you informed about every part of your job. If you're not sure about any part of any work done for you, you should always ask about every stage of your job. I hope this helps. Thanks, fast fit.
