Laying hardie backerboard over plywood

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.09 PM

I have removed Lino from floor which revealed a plywood subfloor. I will be laying backerboard onto the plywood and then tiling onto Backerboard but the plywood floor still has glue on it. I have been told that I can lay the Backerboard onto the floor without removing the glue. Is this the case or do I have to remove glue?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, sorry for the delay. No, no need to remove the glue. Simply screw down the Backer Board over the plywood. Use plenty of screws about every 6-8 inches will ensure a stable background ready for tiling.
