What is best material to lay 600x300 floor tiles - first floor shower room

I take it this is for the floor ,what is on the floor if it is wood then I would suggest you over board with 6mm tile backer board glued (with powdered tile adhesive)and screwed I would not recommend ply which is problematic. Yes thats fine as long as the chipboard is fixed not floating.
