any new systems to secret nail square floorboards

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.09 PM

Fitting new square floorboards to joists in upstairs rooms and wondered if any new secret nail system available? Know you usually nail to joist but would like to hide nail holes. Also joists to be nailed to are above a large room with a high and perfect ceiling so do not want to damage plasterwork below Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If the floorboards are the first point of contact onto the joists then you'd want to make sure they are nailed properly. Use 2 1/2" or 3" lost heads and a nail punch to sink them in. Doing this they shouldn't show much and you could always use some wood filler to cover the tiny holes. I prefer to screw floorboards as there's less chance of them working lose over time and less chance of damaging ceiling below. Hope this helps
