My garage is a bit damp and leaky
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.05 PM
So, I have just moved into a new house that comes with a garage. There are various points at which the garage leaks and some of the wood is rotten. The garage is asbestos. There is leaking coming through the roof and on the walls. I intend to set up a micro brewery and have it as a little workshop also. So to turn it into this I want it all sealed and nice. I don't know what tradesman to seek out, is it builder, carpenter, handyman etc? Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Corrugated asbestos will be cement based and not dangerous until power tools are used on it (eg grinder etc). It will not require a licensed operator to remove but care and further advice will be needed, especially if you are retaining it or altering it!
This material lasts up to 60 years, and if it is porous, it's reached it's end of usefulness. It can be "encapsulated" or "sealed" but I wouldn't recommend this.

If the roof is corrugated asbestos cement, it is a relatively simple job removing it. If your internal walls are asbestos,(similar to plasterboard), this will need a certificate for correct removal / disposal, all of which i can carry out, arrange for you if needed, Hope this helps, Chris.
