Low water pressure to the shower - would putting store tank higher help?

Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.33 PM

The shower is fed by adjusting a lever on the bath taps. The hot water comes from a cylinder heated by the same boiler that provides the central heating. There is a storage tank in the loft, not sure of the size, it sits more or less on the ceiling joists. Can I get the shower to work better by putting the store tank on say a metre high staging?

This is a common problem with gravity fed showers, the issue is not your cold water storage tank in the roof void but your hot water cylinder presumably next to your bathroom. The best way and most cost effective is to fit a shower booster pump, this will significantly improve the flow rate of water to the shower head. Not a job I would recommend for the casual DIY'r, so best employ a professional plumber to quote for this works.

The higher the cold water tank the better rate of water from hot water cylinder fact of gravity,if this is not possible a booster pump could be the answer,
