Roofing

Client paid for job but now not happy and withholding payment on another job

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.08 PM

We are a property maintenance company who got a couple of jobs for roofing from one of our estate agent clients for properties that are owned by the same person. We subcontracted the work out to a roofing company who provide satisfaction guarantees etc. Job 1 - completed and client paid in full but has since has complained that roof is still leaking. These leaks are in areas that the roofing company did not know about and he has done everything he said he would on the original estimate. Client still not happy and is currently instructing a roofing contractor to inspect the property and complete a report. Client refuses to meet with us or our roofer at the property. Job 2 - completed and no reported problems. Same clients refusing to pay us for this due to the dispute he has on job 1. Can a client legally hold back money on another job to the one he is not happy about?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Since it is a totally seperate quote/contract then this is wrong. He should deal with job one seperatley even if it means going through small claims courts with you on the first job. Legally he is wrong and in breach of job contract two.

No If job 2 is complete and well done then money must be released if the Client wasn't happy with job 1 they shouldn't have let then do the other job but if theres no complaint about job 2 they must pay legally hope this helps thanks
