Lights do not work since son tried to put screw-in bulb into a bayonet socket

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.05 PM

The upstairs lights do not work since my son tried to put a screw in bulb into a baynet socket. I checked the old fuse box to see if they had come out but no they all looked OK. I then tried to take them out manually and could not get them out. Any advice.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If its an old fuse box with fuse wire type fuse and the lights are not working then its very likely that the issue is a blown fuse. As the fuse is there to protect the cables against overload and short circuits (like what has been created in trying to put the wrong type of lamp in!). If you cant get the fuse out then it may have welded itself into the fuse box. Should be an easy fix for any decent electrician.
