Bad plastering job advice - full house boarded and plastered but lumps, bulges and trowel marks
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.08 PM
We have recently had a full house boarded and plastered. At first it looked perfect, it is only after applying the first mist coat and moving in that we have noticed lumps, bulges and trowel marks throughout - it is absolutely awful. I would like to know what went wrong as the plasterer has been paid and doesn't want to know.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The lumps and bumps are due to overtroweling which means he has played with the plaster to much which just pushs it around on the wall instead of applying an even coat.
Trowel marks are were the attention to detail was non existent.
Rushing the finishing stages of the job and down right lazyiness because these marks can be taken out with a bit of pressure when the plaster is dry almost when troweling up the wall.

Sorry to hear this but you already know what's wrong, you have had a bad plastering job a lot of the imperfections are not easy to see until you start painting then they become obvious.
Again sorry to hear this but did you take the cheapest price and hope for the best?

Sounds like a poor plastering job. If your guy wont come back its probably because he knows he has done a bad job. You could try trading standards or solicitors but that can be long and drawn out. Sorry, but sounds like you picked the wrong guy for the job.

Sorry to here this but it sounds like you have had a bad job done here lumps and bulges show a lot of inexperience in this job especially trowl marks is down to not dealing with drying times of the walls. I would maybe go to a small claims courts but unfortunately you sounds like you have had a bad tradesman to do the work.
