Fencing

fencing and boundary accuracy - original boundary was straight whereas now it no longer is

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.05 PM

Hi I have 4 neighbours bordering the length of my back garden on one side. My fence needs replacing. I have noticed on my deeds that the original boundary was straight whereas now it no longer is. It also appears that I have lost btn 1 ft and 1 m of property. How do I get my fencing returned to its original position? It appears that the law in this respect is unclear and that I may not be able to claim back land encroached on over time?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi it must be some old sign of the old fence or old post where the boundary line was first time ,even if the post is laying in one side ,if you pull a rope line all the way should give the boundary line

Hello how long ago where the fences that are up erected. If it has been longer than 10 years it can get difficult but not doable. Check your deeds for the official boundaries and show your neighbors .most of the time if you approach them friendly and explain the situation and also you want to errect a new fence back to the original boundaries.check for pre existing fences..post holes/ old concrete footing/ Hope this helps
