Noisy water pump - loud banging and humming sound
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.08 PM
I have low water pressure in my house and so had a pump fitted under my bath when I had a new bathroom fitted 3 years ago. Recently, I have had to start switching it off at the mains switch after I have showered as if it is left on it kicks in again a makes a loud banging and humming sound which can be heard throughout the house. I live in a hard water area and I'm concerned that the limescale is causing the pump to fail. Can anyone give me any ideas as to what the issue might be?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, sounds to me like the pump is faulty, possible flow switch problem if it cuts in when no water running, is it the correct pump? or is it a shower pump? a shower pump can fail if the water tempreture is to high. To boost water pressure to tap outlets you should have either a positive or negative head pump installed depending on system requirements, a shower pump would work but there life can be shortened when used for the incorrect purpose. Limescale does cause pumps problems and can block up filters if the pump has inline filters fitted, most pumps do.
