Dual outlet plate oven hob possible fire risk?

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.50 PM

Hi, its been suggested on this forum that it is OK to use a dual outlet plate from a 6mm supply to run a hob and oven from one switch if the total load is less than 15kW. I have a 6 kW Hob and 2.6 kW wired into a dual outlet plate from a 6mm cabled supply on a 32a breaker (RCD protected). I am concerned that the appliance cables that came attached to the appliances may be cause of concern in the event of a fault on either appliance. The Hob has 2.5mm factory fitted cable and the oven appears to be smaller maybe 1.5mm factory fitted cable, so, if say the oven develops a fault it could cause up to 32A down the flex. There is no fusing information specified in the installation notes for either appliance so any advice would be appreciated.

If its a silicone rubber HORN-F type flex then even though its only 2.5mm it can take a higher current than a standard 2.5mm flex. This said these appliances are designed for the mainland European market and not specifically for the UK. In Europe its one circuit dedicated per appliance and not two linked together. For the 2.6KW a 13amp fused spur could be used.
