Kitchen Fitting

Entirely new kitchen (v modern)

Anonymous user 3 March 2024 - 3.08 PM

Hi, In four weeks we will be embarking on a kitchen project (side return++++) that will include an entirely new kitchen. The works will take 12 weeks. I have never done this before and quite frankly I have been struggling to know where to start. Where to buy a kitchen, whether there really is a difference between the different makes, whether I could buy for example the cupboards from someone like Howdens and get doors made elsewhere and still have an excellent, quality finish. Does a top quality kitchen really have to be £15k+? Then again - I would like a high gloss, handle-less kitchen with a few features .... Again I haven't decided what these are yet! We are in Herne Hill in London, any advice would be great. Thanks so much. Lindsay

Sounds like a big project. When you say it will take 12 weeks I assume you are having building works done to create your new kitchen space. There can be a substantial difference in the quality of kitchens from different suppliers and yes they can be expensive. I would not advise buying units from one supplier and buying doors from another as there can be differences in hinge positions etc so unless you know exactly what you are buying you could end up with doors and draws you cant fit.

Hi, When you say it will take 12 weeks I take it that you are creating a new space either by building an extension or re-designing existing space. Yes Kitchens Are expensive but it also depends on how many appliances and quality of appliances you want as well. Cabinet wise though I would buy doors and units from one supplier as fitments can differ and also your warranty is with one supplier if you get issue's. Also give the independent Kitchen show rooms a chance as they can do a complete job with there own labour force and big branded stores are not always the cheapest.
