Conservatories

Do I need to pay in full before job finished ?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.04 PM

I have a lean to garden conservatory being built 18,500 was told it would take 3/4 weeks and we are now approaching week 10 the actual conservatory turned up today so now we have front on !! I have paid £14.000 now my building company wants another £2000 before they do anything else ? Then before it's plastered and electrics are put in he wants the remainder I do not want to pay anything now until it is finished but will I be in the wrong ? It has been on stage payment plan

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Pay nothing until job is finished, if he needs money to buy materials or pay sub contractors tell him you will pay them, Stage payments are for paying as each stage is completed not before Peter

no don't pay anymore, full stop you should have agreed to installment payments as the job progressed with a balance due at the end of the job. this is a common complaint by people, and some builders take advantage of people not in the know. you should always be holding the ace card, never the builder who can dictate when he wants money, which should never happen, you should always be in control, they work for you, not the other way round

If your up to date with a stage payment agreement and happy with all work so far and time frames , absolutely not don't pay anymore money
