No access to trap from shower tray drain as its blocked by horizontal pipework.

Just had a kohler shower tray fitted. There isn't a net to catch hairs and when looking into the drain, theres a pipe running horizontal rather than being connected to the drain. the plumber is saying that this is correctly fitted. Can this be right?

There should be an insert that pulls out from the top that you can clean
