How to check if diverter was replaced
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.08 PM
I had an issue with no hot water in a shower room. A plumber charged me £152 for the part and £200 for 4 hours labour to install it, clean up the pipes from rust and renew the pump. I don't think he replaced the diverter as he was told to leave it behind after the job. He did not. I think he has ripped me off. Any ideas on what I should do to verify if he did the job he billed me for.

So you paid the plumber in full despite asking him to leave the faulty part! Did you receive an itemised bill? If you did then ask another plumber to quantify his works, he should be able to tell if he carried the work out as billed.
If it is proven that you have been misled and you have enough evidence to prove that, then challenge this plumber, if you receive not satisfaction then Trading Standards will be your next port of call, but make sure you have substantial evidence to back up your claims first!
