Previous leak near wiring - is it dangerous?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.04 PM

Hi. I had a burst radiator dripping slowly and unnoticed in an inaccessible spot for several weeks. Eventually the carpet became sodden and mouldy, over time many litres must have escaped, although the carpet has been removed and the room dried out, small mould patches washed off the wall etc as best I can over several weeks. I am concerned because the leak was situated above a boxed skirting, housing pipe work and electrical wires leading to a nearby socket (not in use during this period). Since 10 weeks have elapsed since the leak was stopped, would the wiring in there have dried, and I can consider what happened as historical? or should I replace it assuming damage caused by wet/damp? How much of the wiring would need replaced - just that section or would they need to rip the skirting out right round the room/flat? Am reticent because of the upheaval: everything is boxed in and I have concrete floors/very solid walls. Many thanks for advice.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

hi yes the wiring should be fine after 10 weeks, you'd know by now if it wasn't.
